AEDC and May Prairie SNA Wildflower Field Trip
June 5, 2021 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Dennis Horn will be our expert guide for this special trip. Dennis is a charter member of the Tennessee Native Plant Society and an editor of the field guide “Wildflowers of Tennessee, the Ohio Valley and the Southern Appalachians.” AEDC and May Prairie are part of the “Oak Barrens” of Coffee County and provide some of the best examples of TN rare plants. First, we will visit the AEDC to see native orchids. After lunch we will visit May Prairie where we should see Mock Bishop’s Weed, Coppery St. Johnswort, Marsh Pea, Swamp Candles and more. Paths are easy to moderate walking in low vegetation. Bring water, insect repellent, sunscreen, snacks, and camera. Bring your lunch for an outdoor picnic.
Meet at Wendy’s in Manchester TN 82 Expressway Dr, Manchester, TN
