Promoting the development and enjoyment of Tennessee trails.
Tuesday, March 4 — Bay Point Loop Trail, Harrison Bay State Park near Chattanooga, 4.2 miles, easy. This beautiful trail is entirely along the edges of a circuitous bay of Lake Chickamauga. There are even a number of benches available, thanks to an Eagle Scout, where we can admire the great views in comfort. In addition, within this wooded park it is quite likely that we will come across deer and other wildlife, perhaps even herons. There are even restrooms available!
Check the weather forecast within a day of the hike, as earlier forecasts can change dramatically. Choose appropriate layers; bring snacks and lunch along with more water than you think you need; and gather up hiking poles, rain jacket, sunscreen, and insect repellent as needed.
Meet at the upper parking lot at the Park Office/Marina of Harrison Bay State Park. Please register with Will Latham, (704) 365-8889.
