Cherohala Skyway

Tuesday, October 15 — Cherohala Skyway: Huckleberry Knob and Hoopers Bald, 3 miles or so, easy.  Join us for short hikes at trailheads located within a short distance of each other near mile marker 8 on the Cherohala Skyway. (It is called “Cherohala” because it connects the Cherokee NF with the Nantahala NF.) Beautiful 360-degree views, fall colors (we hope) and maybe a Monarch Butterfly or two. We’ll plan on lunch in nearby Tellico Plains. For carpooling/caravanning, meet at 7:30 am ET in the parking area near the gas station at Food City in Ooltewah, right (east) off I-75 exit 11. https://bit.ly/3dwmbxn Register with the hike leaders (required for all Scenic City hikes): Marti & Roy Owensby at sewmarti@aol.com. Carpool cost $10.00.
