Ranger Creek Falls Hike

Wednesday, April 19 – Ranger Creek Falls Hike.  All Day.  8 miles rated moderate, with some portions of rocky terrain and steep elevation.  We’ll follow the easy Greeter Loop, crossing over the top of beautiful Boardtree Falls and picking up the Greeter Trail to Alum Gap Campground.  We’ll then head down into the canyon on the Big Creek Gulf Trail, following Big Creek to the Sinks, a unique feature where water emerges from caves then plunges to disappear into underground rivers.  We’ll continue along Big Creek until it meets with Ranger Creek and rock hop to cross and proceed on the short trail to Ranger Falls.  We’ll re-trace our steps until we pick up the remainder of the Greeter Loop for views of both Upper and Lower Boardtree Falls and a stop at the impressive Greeter Falls.  Bring lunch, plenty of water, sturdy hiking boots and hiking sticks, and consider water shoes for the crossing.  We will meet at the Greeter Trailhead on Greeter Falls Road in Altamont, TN.  To register or for more information contact Jim Barritt, jsbarritt@gmail.com or 931-492-3212.
