Sewanee Perimeter Trail – Shakerag Hollow

Wednesday: Sewanee Perimeter Trail. Sewanee. 6.2 miles rated moderate. Starting at the east gate at University of the South, we’ll hike from Shakerag Hollow to Green’s View and back via the Beckwith Point trail. Then we’ll take a short hike out to Piney Point to the gorge overlook. Shakerag Hollow is one of the best wildflower hikes in the southeast. The hike is easy in many areas, rocky in others. There is a steep climb out of the gorge near Green’s View. Because of the rocky portions, poles and boots are recommended. Bring water, snacks, and lunch.
