Promoting the development and enjoyment of Tennessee trails.
Tuesday, December 20 — Lookout Mountain: St. Elmo Trail to Glenn Falls, 4-5 miles, out-and-back, moderate. This relatively new trail starts close to the parking lot for Guild Trail and bobbles along the eastern side of Lookout Mountain, making its way in fits and spurts to the Glenn Falls Trail. The latter takes us to the beautiful stream that creates Glenn Falls. We’ll also make our way through a natural (?) tunnel to see the upper part of the creek.
Check the forecast and choose appropriate layers, wear hiking shoes or boots, bring snacks and lunch, sunscreen, and more water than you think you need. It’s never a mistake to bring a rain jacket and hiking poles. For carpooling/caravanning, meet at Food City in St. Elmo, near its gas station, at 8:30 am ET. No carpooling cost.
