Promoting the development and enjoyment of Tennessee trails.
Saturday, April 20 — Hidden Passage Trail, Pickett State Park, Jamestown TN. SHORTER HIKE: Hidden Passage Trail to Thompson Overlook, out-and-back, 7.5 miles, less than 1,000’ el. gain, moderate to strenuous. LONGER HIKE: Hidden Passage Trail loop plus a spur trail to an abandoned railroad tunnel and another spur trail to Double Falls, 11 miles, more than 1,000’ el. gain, strenuous. Those doing the shorter hike will experience a waterfall, a rock arch, a “hidden passage,” and a beautiful overlook. In addition, those doing the longer hike will also check out an abandoned railroad tunnel and a second waterfall. This is a beautiful trail that has it all! Those hiking the longer trail who plan to walk through the tunnel will need to bring a headlamp or a flashlight. (A cellphone flashlight is not adequate.) Also, there is a creek crossing to Double Falls which we may or may not be able to rock hop across, so bring your water shoes. For carpooling/caravanning, meet at 8.30 am ET at the Durham Street parking lot (ball fields) off Dayton Pike in Soddy-Daisy. https://bit.ly/3Qjdc0S Please register with hike leader Jennifer Davis, (615) 617-2505 or jdavis327@gmail.com. Carpool: $11.00.
