Joint hike with Upper Cumberland Chapter. Another adventure on a new section of trail that heads South under Buzzard Point. Moderate hike from the Laurel-Snow trailhead to Morgan Creek. Long Hike: est 8 mi out and back. Short Hike: 5 mi out and back. This trek first takes us on an old railbed along Richland Creek, past the entrance of Dixon Slope Mine, over Laurel Creek and then heads toward Snow Falls turning at the junction for Morgan Creek for 2 mi before turning back. Option on the return, to hike up to the base of Laurel Falls. The total elevation gain is approximately 700 feet. Bring (electrolytes) water, hiking sticks, lunch and a snack. Don’t forget tick/bug spray and sunscreen. Persons 18 and over, members and non-members welcome. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Carpool cost is $6.
