Saturday, January 11 — Guild Hardy Loop Trail, Lookout Mountain TN, two options. First option: 11.1 miles, strenuous, 1,686’ el. gain, lollipop. This trail pieces together several trails around Lookout Mountain and provides incredible views of Chattanooga and the Tennessee River. We will start at the Guild trailhead on Ochs Highway and head up gradually to Cravens House and beyond. Shorter option: start with the longer hikers and turn around at Cravens House, about 4 miles, el. gain 686’, out & back. Check the weather forecast within a day of the hike, as earlier forecasts can change dramatically. Wear hiking shoes or boots; bring snacks and/or lunch along with more water than you think you need; use insect repellant, gather up hiking poles, sunscreen, and rain jacket, as needed. For carpooling/caravanning, meet at 8:30 am ET at Food City in St. Elmo, in the area of the parking lot straight ahead off Tennessee Avenue, https://bit.ly/3C3Um9L We will carpool to the trailhead on Ochs Highway (very limited parking there).
