Promoting the development and enjoyment of Tennessee trails.
This hike will be an Out and Back on the North Old Mac. Join us as we start by parking at the trailhead parking lot, just down the road on the right from the visitor center. Restrooms are available. The hike will begin on the Old Mac trail, a short connecting trail to the junction of North Old Mac. The North Old Mac trail travels the banks of Old Mac mountain and the terrain is a gradual climb. Considered moderate, not too steep, with an up and down flow. Once on the North Old Mac trail, we will hike about 2.4 miles to the junction of the Panther Branch trail. There we will get a nice view of both the Bird and England mountains. We will then reverse course and head back on the North Old Mac trail to the parking lot for a total of about 5 miles. We will meet at 9:00 am ET at the Books-a-Million parking lot in Oak Ridge nearest Illinois Avenue for car pooling. We recommend that riders in the carpool pay the driver as appropriate. After the hike, plan on having lunch in Oak Ridge. For more information, contact Reggie at 704.773.9963 or rldeas123@gmail.com .
