Promoting the development and enjoyment of Tennessee trails.
Saturday, January 25 — Scenic City Volunteer Day: Light trail maintenance and litter pick up on the Roaring Creek Section of the Cumberland Trail (CT), walking about 2 miles round trip as we use loppers and/or hand clippers for our work. Starting time is 9 a.m. ET at the Roaring Creek trailhead of the CT, 1663 Brayton Road, Graysville TN 37388. Ending time is 3 p.m. ET. The CT Conference will provide tools or you can bring your own. Be sure to wear leather gloves, along with appropriate layers; wear sturdy boots; bring snacks and/or lunch along with more water than you think you need; use insect repellent, hiking poles, sunscreen, and rain jacket as needed. Check the weather forecast within a day of the hike, as earlier forecasts can change dramatically. For carpooling/caravanning for volunteers staying until quitting time (3 p.m.), meet at 8.30 am ET at the Durham Street parking lot (ball fields) off Dayton Pike in Soddy-Daisy. https://bit.ly/3Qjdc0S Register with Volunteer Work Coordinator Randy Medley, (randymedley@icloud.com or (423) 667-0975.
