Come hike with us!
We schedule dozens of hikes each month across Tennessee and in surrounding states. We also enjoy canoeing and hiking, rafting, and visiting historic sites. While most events are day trips, we also plan overnight backpacking hikes and organize multi-day and weekend events that often include a combination of activities.
Our destinations are diverse. We travel to national, state, and local parks, natural areas, wildlife management areas, historic sites, and other recreational areas. Our hikes are of varying lengths and levels of difficulty so there are opportunities for everyone from beginners to advanced hikers to participate. All hikes are led by experienced TTA hikers. There are no fees to participate but you are responsible for your transportation, camping, lodging, admission and meal expenses. Most hikes are open to non-members.
Join Us!
There’s no better way to appreciate the natural world than to take a walk through it.
TTA has chapters throughout Tennessee so chances are good there’s a local group close to you. Individuals may also join as at-large members.
Each chapter leads outings and holds regularly scheduled meetings. Each fall we all come together for an annual weekend-long meeting that features dozens of regional hikes, presentations, entertainment, a little business, and fun.
TTA members receive our monthly newsletter Tennessee Trails which features a calendar of upcoming outings, updates from leadership, hiking tips, and news about chapter activities and volunteer opportunities.
We come from all walks of life and share a passionate appreciation for the beauty and value of Tennessee’s natural resources. Many of us are active conservationists who work to preserve these places and the trails in them not only for our own enjoyment but for the benefit of future generations. Due in part to our efforts over the years there are many hundreds of miles of Tennessee trails to enjoy.
