Promoting the development and enjoyment of Tennessee trails.
Tuesday, February 11 — Bear Paw Loop and part of the Chestnut Mountain loop, starting at the location of the burned-down Ocoee Whitewater Center, 5 miles, easy to moderate with some elevation gain to an overlook. We will cross the big walking bridge over the Ocoee River, which was built for the 1996 World Olympics. There will probably not be much water, but the rocks will be quite impressive! Our trails meander through the woods on the side of the river gorge.
Check the weather forecast within a day of the hike, as earlier forecasts can change dramatically. Choose appropriate layers; wear hiking shoes or boots; bring snacks and/or lunch along with more water than you think you need; use insect repellent, hiking poles, sunscreen, and rain jacket as needed.
