Promoting the development and enjoyment of Tennessee trails.
Approximately 8 strenuous point-to-point miles. After leaving cars at the Ozone Falls parking area, we will shuttle to Black Mountain (about 9 miles). We will enjoy time on the top exploring sandstone outcroppings, views of Grassy Cove, and the wildflowers. We will then hike the Cumberland Trail 6.7 miles in and out of the gorges and over creeks. While the hike has an overall descent of about 1300 feet, there is quite a bit of ascending and descending and rocky terrain climbing out of the gorge at the base of the spectacular Ozone Falls. Depart from the southeast parking lot of Central Baptist Church 1346 S. Main St. Crossville, TN at 7:30 am CST. Although the trail is close to Crossville, carpool gas fee is $5 because of the shuttle there and back. Bring hiking poles, wear hiking/rain gear, bring plenty of (electrolytes) water, lunch/snack. Don’t forget tick/bug spray and sunscreen. People aged 18 and over, members and non-members welcome. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
