Promoting the development and enjoyment of Tennessee trails.
Murfreesboro, TN
5-7 miles. Easy to moderate
Middle Tennessee cedar glades and barrens feature wooded sections, meadows, and contrasting rocky areas. We can expect to see a number of wildflower species – many of which are specifically adapted to the geography – and we’ll hike at a pace that allows us to appreciate them. Our destinations will be chosen based on what’s blooming with an inclination towards trails less traveled. We will likely visit 2 or 3 sites. We’ll encounter varied terrain, likely going off trail at times, but our routes will be relatively flat with only gradual inclines. Some areas may be wet or muddy so choose your footwear accordingly. Pack plenty of water, snacks, and lunch. Don’t forget sun and bug protection. We’ll meet at a trailhead to be determined for an 8:30 AM step-off. Alternate date for inclement weather: Wednesday May 7th.
