Location: Land Between the Lakes (LBL), Kentucky.
Carpooling departure at 6:45 AM from Tollgate Medical Plaza, 1106 Elliston Way, Thompson’s Station. Please arrive by 6:30 AM.
Note: This is a joint hike with the Clarksville Chapter. The Columbia/Franklin Chapter will be working with the Clarksville Chapter conducting the TTA 2025 Annual Meeting. Many of the trails to be offered for hiking will be in the Land Between the Lakes area. We will spend time hiking this area prior to the Annual Meeting to become familiar with the trails.

Time to meet at Woodlands Nature Station: 9:30 AM
Lunch: Bring a sack lunch/water to be consumed along the trail. We will not be stopping at a restaurant for lunch.
Restrooms are available near both trailheads.
Trails:
Hematite Lake Trail 2.2 miles and Honker Lake Trail 4.3 miles, both moderate.
1) The Hematite Lake Trail circles the 83.6-acre Hematite Lake. The lake was named for iron ore that was once mined here. The trail is in woods with large trees. You may see cranes, beavers, frogs, squirrels, and turtles.
2) Honker Lake Trail 4.3 miles, circles the 180-acre Honker Lake named after Canadian Geese. The lake was built in the 1930s by the CCC Corps as a waterfowl refuge. The trail is on natural turf, and most of it is in the woods. Honker Lake is home to beaver, otters, Canadian geese, osprey, and many fish species.
Total mileage – 6.5 miles. Dogs are welcome on both trails, but they must be on a leash.
