Promoting the development and enjoyment of Tennessee trails.
Saturday, December 30 — Laurel Falls, Bryan Overlook, and a hidden natural bridge, about 8 miles, moderate, about 900’ el. gain, out-and-back. We’ll walk by interesting remnants of mining activity along wild and wooly Richland Creek and take switchbacks to Laurel Falls, which is almost always impressive. We’ll then head up a steep trail to the top of the plateau, cross Laurel Creek, and take an easy stroll over to Bryan Overlook. There we’ll find a great view of the Richland Creek gorge and the town of Dayton. Next, we will follow a narrower trail to admire the rocks and clefts near the end of this peninsula. Before we head back, we will take another trail over to a tucked-away natural bridge. Lots of entertainment! Water shoes may be needed. For carpooling/caravanning, meet at 8.30 am ET at the Durham Street parking lot (ball fields) off Dayton Pike in Soddy-Daisy. https://bit.ly/3Qjdc0S Please register with hike leader Betsy Darken, (423) 718-2060. Carpool cost $2.00.
