Promoting the development and enjoyment of Tennessee trails.
We’ll touch on several different trails but they’re all easy, no significant elevation changes. We’ll pass through woodlands and see creekside habitats showcasing a variety of wildlife and natural plants as well as remnants – stairs, building foundations and other remains – of the pre-Manhattan project settlements. Also, we’ll see parts of the quarry, the quarry lake and old cemeteries. The hike is about 6 miles. We will meet in Oak Ridge at the Books-A-Million parking lot nearest Illinois Ave. for carpooling to the trail head because there is limited parking, leaving at 9 am. Books-A-Million is located at 310 South Illinois Ave. The trail head is about 4.5 miles away. The weather is variable; we recommend hiking poles, shoes to wear to and from the hike plus sturdy hiking shoes, other weather appropriate clothing, a snack, a drink and a camera. After the hike plan on stopping on the way back for a meal and refreshments. For additional information about the hike please contact Scott Adams before July 22nd at 815-608-0879, leave a message or send an email to adamsscott1950@gmail.com
