Tishomingo State Park is a public recreation area in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, locates south of Iuka, MS. The major feature of the park is Bear Creek Canyon and its generous sandstone outcroppings.
This is a 6-7 mile hike winding along rocky ridges with spectacular views through shallow, fern-filled canyons. We will cross the Bear Creek Swinging Bridge constructed in the 1930’s. The park is approximately 2.5 hours from Memphis. Hiking boots are recommended. We will meet at 9:30 at the park toll gate. There is a parking lot to the right just before entering the park through the gate. We will regroup into less vehicles. Heavy rain will cancel this hike. Bring water, snacks and a lunch. Registration required.
