Promoting the development and enjoyment of Tennessee trails.
Tuesday January 28 — Big Red Loop on White Oak Mountain, Collegedale TN, 4 miles, easy/moderate. idgeWhite Oak Mountain is actually a very long wooded ridge, on which Southern Adventist University has created an impressive and well-maintained trail system. We will meander through the woods along the flank of the ridge and perhaps have some views at this time of year. Check the weather forecast within a day of the hike, as earlier forecasts can change dramatically. Choose appropriate layers; wear hiking shoes or boots; bring snacks and/or lunch along with more water than you think you need; use insect repellent, hiking poles, sunscreen, and rain jacket as needed. Parking at the trailhead is somewhat limited, so we’ll meet for carpooling/caravanning at 8:30 am ET in the parking area near the gas station at Food City in Ooltewah, right (east) off I-75 exit 11. https://bit.ly/3dwmbxn Register with the hike leader (required for all Scenic City hikes): Julie Roberts, (305) 338-9450 or joggerjulie@bellsouth.net. Carpool cost: $1.00.
