Kayaking on Byrd Lake at Cumberland Mountain State Park. Meet 8am at the boat house parking area. Kayak rental is $ 8.00 per hour, first come first served. Rental starts 8am last check out time at 5:30pm. We’ll hike the 4 mile easy Pioneer Loop before or after kayaking. Bring (electrolytes) water, snacks and lunch. Don’t forget tick/bug spray and sunscreen. Persons 18 and over, members and non-members welcome. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Saturday, June 29 – Barren Fork and Collins River Paddle. McMinnville. Joint event with the Highland Rim chapter. The Barren Fork River is a tributary of the Collins River. We will paddle about 6 miles from the Barren Fork River Dam at Pepper Branch Park (120 Old Morrison Road) and take out at the old VFW building on Highway 70S in McMinnville. We will have to shuttle vehicles to the VFW building and there is a $5 parking fee. Pack snacks, lunch and plenty of water. Our voyage passes through Prentice Cooper State Forest, and we may see bald eagles, osprey, turtles and otters. Bring snacks, lunch, water and sunscreen. Thursday, May 9 – Tims Ford Lake Paddle. 4 to 6 hours of calm lake paddling. We’ll explore the generally lightly travelled Anderton Branch and the mostly undeveloped Ray Branch. Bring lunch, plenty of water, sunscreen and wear your personal flotation device. We will meet at the Anderton Public Boat Ramp, Lynchburg, TN.
