Chapter Meeting

Monday, February 24, 7:00 pm at the DW Wilson Community Center, 501 N. Collins Street, Tullahoma.

Our featured speaker is Ned Murray, Executive Director of Friends of South Cumberland State Parks. Ned’s presentation is entitled “What’s in a Name? How (And Why) One Park Became Three” which will tell the story of South Cumberland State Park being split into three parks–South Cumberland, Savage Gulf, and Head of the Crow. His update will shed light on the process of splitting of one park into three and the major implications for hikers and other visitors, as well as for the entire South Cumberland community. If we ask him, he may also tell a few stories and answer questions about walking the 500+ mile Camino de Santiago with his wife, Lucy.

Before the meeting, at 5:30 pm, we will gather for dinner at La Fiesta Bar & Grill, 1410 N. TTA Highland Rim Treasurer Jim Barritt will give a presentation showing the highlights of his September 2024 trip to Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, and the national parks of Argentina and Brazil that encompass and showcase spectacular Iguazu Falls, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world.
